Faith in Action: the MAYA Expansion

Since 1997, the Muslim American Youth Academy (MAYA), a school of the Islamic Center of America, has served as a nurturing environment where faith, education, and identity has shaped tens of thousands of students in our community. Rooted in Islamic values and academic excellence, and adjacent to the Islamic Center of America, MAYA has become a trusted home for families seeking an education that prepares their children for success in both this world and the next. Today, many respected professionals and successful leaders within our community proudly trace their foundation back to MAYA.

Today, MAYA stands at an important turning point.

As enrollment continues to grow and demand increases, the current campus can no longer fully support the needs of its students. Classrooms are limited, shared spaces are stretched, and opportunities for expanded programs are constrained due to the lack of space.

The MAYA Expansion Campaign is about building forward.

This project will add a new two-story building to the MAYA campus, allowing the school to expand classrooms, enhance learning environments, and create spaces designed specifically for academic growth, spiritual development, and community engagement. This new facility will allow MAYA to better serve its students today while preparing for generations to come.

The impact of this expansion extends far beyond walls and classrooms. It means smaller class sizes, stronger student support, and the ability to introduce new programs that foster leadership, confidence, and Islamic character. It means giving students room to grow—intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Most importantly, this expansion is an investment in our children. In a time when Muslim youth face increasing challenges to their identity and values, MAYA provides something invaluable: a place where faith is not separate from education, but integrated into daily learning. By supporting this campaign, donors are helping ensure that children of our community have access to an environment that reinforces who they are and who they can become.

The success of the MAYA Expansion Campaign depends on the collective commitment of our community. Every contribution—large or small—helps lay the foundation for a stronger future. Together, we can build spaces that educate minds, strengthen faith, and shape leaders who will carry our values forward.

This is our opportunity to grow with purpose, build with intention, and invest in the future of our community.
